If a joint owner of real estate is sued, how does this effect the other joint owners. There isn't any way they could lose the property as a result of the sued owner losing his/her case, is there?

**A: yes, there is. For example, the property is worth $300K and theer are 3 owners. One owner is sued and losed resulting in a judgement lien being filed against the one owner. The creditor could foreclose on the lien which entails foreclosing on the property and having it sold to pay the debt.
This is but one example by which joint tenants could lose the property.
