What is the name of your state? wa i was sued for $40,000 for an assault that i was never criminally charged with. I was 19 at the time and now am 28. i defaulted by failing to appear because i thought since there was no criminal charges, there was no case. i want to know if i can re-open the case to tell my side of the story? should i respond to the collection agency within the 30 days to tell them i contest the judgement? why did they wait so long to pursue me and i am curious because it is almost been 10 years?
