I recently filed a Small Claims suit in FLORIDA. I posted in this Small Claims forum on August 15th....BTW, thanks HALKET for such a speedy reply! Your footprint was by far the biggest one on my butt! :D

Recently I received an overnight air express letter from JUDGE JUDY!! After the initial fits of laughter, screaming, and anxiety attacks, I called and talked to the producer. It all sounds toooo good to be true! They pay my "travel expenses" and also an "appearance fee". Additionally, IF Judge Judy awards me a judgment, SHE pays me the monetary judgment, on behalf of the Defendant, within 30 days!! I told the producer I'm interested! Currently, he's contacting the Defendants.

My question is.....What's wrong with this picture???
Has anyone been approached and/or walked the line with Judge Judy? I've searched this site for other instances with Her Honor, but haven't found very much information. ANY input would be greatly appreciated!!

First, thank you for the compliment (I think??). And I have a brand new pair of boots!!!

Q1) "What's wrong with this picture???"
A1) Nothing. You have to be TOTALLY prepared. Judge Scheindlin can be a real SOB if you come across as petty or belligerent.

Q2) "Has anyone been approached and/or walked the line with Judge Judy?"
A2) Not me. But, if you have sound legal principles, can appear to know what you are doing and present a strong and solid case, you should have a good time.

And lets not forget... if you prevail, you won't have to worry about chasing the debtor down and trying to collect. They pay YOU!

As I understand it, they fund a 'casepool' and any award you get is paid from that pool. Lets assume the pool is $5,000 and you win $2,000. You get the first $2000 of the pool (as settlement) and then the rest ($3k) is split between the two parties. That way they make sure that both parties have an interest in any award.
