What is the name of your state? OH

I have an unpaid credit card debt with Citibank for over $7500.

I received two "Payment to Avoid Garnishment" forms from an attorney's office - one dated March 31st and one dated May 14th. Both times, I figured up the payment and somehow managed to come up with the required $407.55 each time.

In early July, I received another letter stating that a Judgement Lien has been filed against my real estate. I figured, fine... they'll get the rest of their money if we ever sell the house.

A couple days ago, I received another "Payment to Avoid Garnishment" form dated August 13th.

My question is this... can they still try to garnish my wages even though they have a lien on my house?

I believe they can, yes. The lien gives them a guarantee that they WILL eventually get their money. However, there is nothing to stop them from attempting to collect the money from you by other means as well.. since it could be a LONG time before anything happens with the house.

I would suggest you start negotiating with the lawyer if you want to avoid the garnishment and these constant 'notices' - they won't stop bugging you otherwise.

Thanks

Thanks...
Now that my husband has a job again, I have this $400+ budgeted every few months. As soon as his first couple of checks come in and we catch up on some things, I will call the attorneys and see if I can work out a monthly payment plan.
