My husband won a case in Indiana Small Claims Court. The judgement was for $535.00. The defendant did not appear and we have no idea where he his at this time. Can my husband get a lien on the defendents' state tax return? If so, how does he go about doing this.

My response:

Nice try, but no banana. Separate laws are enacted to do what you want to do; however, those laws are for State agencies, not private parties.

Now, here's what you can do. You can call an "Attorney Service" up, and have them run a statewide search for bank accounts, property, employers, etc. It will cost about $150.00. But, you can get that amount back by adding the cost of collection to your Abstract of Judgment.
