There was a judgement filed against although I was held harmless by my ex-husband in my divorce. Now my wages are being garnished. Can I still appeal the judgement and how would I go about it??

The only way you can get the judgment set aside is if you don't owe the money and you have evidence that you don't owe the money. THe hold harmless agreement in your divorce does not apply to the creditor as it is an agreement between you and your ex ONLY. Go back and file a contempt petition against hubby for his failure to follow the court order and pay the judgment.

Regarding the hold harmless....it is stated in my divorce decree that I am held harmless from any marital dets, business debts, tax debts during the time we were married. This was the court's order. Now, a judgement that my ex avoided paying by filing bankruptcy, has been filed on me. This is for $445,500.00. They are now garnishing my wages. Can I now appeal a judgement from several years ago? The law firm once contacted me to advise me they had a stay from going after my ex due to the bankruptcy and I was to advise them if I was held harmless, which I did. But they proceeded and got the judgement. Can I file something with the court or does this sound like I need an attorney? Thanks for your help!
