Again, in California... refer back to thread "abstract of judgement"

I just got an email from the plantiff saying they would accept my offer of paying half of the amount. I am willing to do that, just to save myself from anymore grief and get on with starting over. I'm still recouping from letting a drug addict be my friend.
My question now is this:
Can I file a small claims suit against the ex-roommate for debts incurred while he lived in my house? And yes, I do have signed papers of his intent to pay for the damages done to the other car, rent, utilities, and other misc. lending of money.
