California. When I was 18 I was sued for a large sum of money in a civil court case, I went to the 1st hearing but could not afford a attorney at the time, so skipped the rest and lost by default.
I remember that the other attorney mentioned that they would wait till I bought a house and put a lean on it.
It has been 18 years and nothing shows up on my credit reports. Can the judgement be hidden somewhere if they did not report it to the credit agencies?
I'm looking to purchase a house soon and don't want to have a lien on it right after the purchase.
I was never informed of any renewal for the judgement. Never heard anything from it again after not going to court
