We have a judgment against a tenant, who lives in Maryland, but works in D.C.
The judgment is from Maryland. We are having a difficult time trying to get the tenant to pay the judgment.
To make a long story short, the ex-tenant signed a letter, executed by the tenant stating that he will pay the judgment amount plus fees and interest. After the first check for payment towards the amount agreed upon came, it was deposited, but, a stop payment was made.
What is the best way to get the tenant to pay up? And is the letter signed by the tenant to pay over the judgment amount enforceable? If so, how do we collect?
