In 1995, while in college, I subleased an apartment in Minneapolis, MN. Regretfully I did not follow up on it once I moved out. Recently I discovered that there is a judgment on file against me <and my former roommate> for over $3,000 for past due rent. While I lived in the apartment I paid my portion of the rent on time. The rental agency has acknowledged this to me in phone conversations. They have also stated that my name does not appear on any lease in their records. Is there anyway I can clear my name for for a debt that does not belong to me? Can a landlord release just my name while retaining the judgment on my ex <*!^#@#> roommate?
