I have a divorce case in Fla, I live in Ga with my children. So Fla doesn't have persona jurisdiction I have lived in Ga for 2yrs. I want to stop the Fla case because of jurisdiction and transfer my case to Ga. I know if I request a change of venue from Fla, i am giving them jurisdiction. So will I get into trouble if I ignore the hearing date and everything because of non-jurisdiction and just transfer the case to Ga? How do I do this? I may have an upcoming hearing, but I haven't received the hearing notice yet. It is supposed to be a hearing filed by the IRS against the other party for non-payment of child support. It has nothing to do with custody. I want to transfer my case to Ga so I don't have to keep going to Fla. I have tried a change of venue in Fla before and it was a catch 22. They said because I filed the change of venue that gave them jurisdiction. So If I don't go to the hearing because they don't have jurisdiction I can file my case here. I think. Do any of you know how jurisdiction works?
