I'm an over the road truck driver w/spouse and I get my mail once every two months forwarded to me. I do live in our truck -it's our home for now and my address is just a post office box. By the time I've gotten this jury notice it's past the date scheduled. I wrote the courts with certified letter explaining this and no reply from them August. I got a second notice in October of Failure to Appear date w/judge to explain my situation - again after date scheduled to appear. I sent in November a next day air letter to the case manager explaining my situation with supporting documents; without me working my spouse cannot work as we haul govt freight where two two people are required to be in attendance for hazardous or secured loads, my company is based out of state and I do not have a set schedule or route. The case manager called me and set up an appointment with the judge for December. What can I expect? should I have a lawyer present with me? Am I expected to show up to this December appointment if my job calls me 2,000 miles away? I don't get paid time off or travel expenses alone will create a hardship.
