I am a wounded soldier at WRAMC, and everyday since Sat. on every news channel they are talking about these two news media people who where attacked in a road side attack in IraQ. EVERY SINGLE day I look at, and speak to soldiers here who have lost limbs, eye sight, hearing, and are going through medical procedures that are excruciating, and then PT. There loved ones are here, and some of them are not. We signed up volentarily for this country, and were called to active duty. There are lawers, Doctors, firefighters, Police, and other professions that have given their lives for this country, over many years for the military. How come when 2 folks on TV get wounded, and survive is it blown out of proportion. how come when a soldier is wounded or dies do they only get a minute of recomendation. unless it is on a special report. I am not saying that my heart does not go out to the families and loved ones of the two individuals, I just wonder why our SOLDIERS don't get the same broadcasting..mmmm!!

Thanks for listening.

Ask to change the channel to Fox

I just got through working out at the gym and was watching that very debate on Fox. They acquiesced even they do not show enough. My own two cents is that its the liberal mass media trying to exert that they to are over there risking in an attempt to discredit the military's contribution. Rest assured we care. Thank you for your service and I wish you a full recovery! You do not get the attention or money you deserve.

Not advice, just a comment to a comment.

Well thats appropriate because FOX news is mostly commentary and not reporting, but it is a good source for "out of the box thinking"

Dog bites man. Soldiers are killed and wounded on a regular basis, almost every day. Not so for TV anchormen who are recognizable by huge crowds back home. That almost by definition makes it "news."

There has never been anything democratic about the distribution of media coverage -- or even fame/respect within the military. If a general got killed tomorrow it would be major headlines. A private? Another name on the list, except for those that know him/her. Some people get ships named after them, most don't. etc. etc.

I think it's because, when someone famous, or at least well known, gets hurt, it brings it closer to home for more Americans. They kinda feel like they KNOW that guy and will actually take the time to sit down and read or hear about what happened. Unfortunatly, this war has been going on for so long that when it's briefy mentioned in the news that ten marienes were killed today, people seem to almost not hear it. It's very wrong, but at the same time, if it takes reporters getting hurt to get America to realize how bad it really is for our soldiers, then I guess the extra attention is good.

I agree with your post opus, maybe americans will get a bigger picture of what is really going on here, but I don't feel that because you are on tv, that your life is more important than that of a soldier. I can't wait to hear the presidents state of address this evening. I wonder when he will BRING THEM ALL HOME!

I am not happy when anyone gets hurt or killed in combat. The American people have become desensitized to it because this has gone on for so long.

It is truly sad that it takes a famous person getting hurt or killed to again remind us of just how fatal this war has become.

It now takes the pics of flag draped military coffins coming home, and pictures of wounded soldiers with burned skin and missing limbs and famous people getting hurt or killed for Americans to "feel" again.

It sucks it really does.

God speed to your success in Iraq and your safe return home. There are a lot of people, myslelf included that support you and your tireless efforts to bring freedom and democracy to those who need you. Even if they (the opppressed who don't know any better) don't know it themselves.
