I signed a year lease with a renter of a duplex about a month ago... A week ago i just got my belongings moved in. I turned the utilities and electic on last night and i came back to the unit 4 to 6 inches deep in water.. Ruining my furniture personal belongs in boxs that were on the floor like my computer and pictures etc. Apparently there was a broken pipe under the bathroom sink i was not made awhere of. The landlord is now only telling me that she can lend me a shopvac and some fans i can use and she'll cover the waterbill and theres not much else she can do... Please if theres any legal advice or legal action advice you could give me it would be greatly appreciated. I am now a single parent with 2 young children with no place to stay as of now.

GUess from a LL elsewhere...FL issues may vary....LL is not responsible for your personal stuff..absent negligence like clear prior knowledge of waterleak...which I doubt ...BUT seems to me LL is accountable to promptly restore the unit to habitable condition ...and if not dried out quickly there may be mold problems
