What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio, I have a son who is seventeen. He has a learning disability and has an IEP. He has ADHD, emotional disturbance, and opposional defiant disorder. He is on probation been for various behaviors. He ran away in nov 2010, the minute it happened I notified his probation officer and went to the police and filed a report. Probation officer said she had to file a warrant. I did everything I had to as the parent. My son ended up in west virginia. I sent money western union to bring him home. He came home went to his dads and we both met to turn him in to the juvenile hall but my son paniced and ran from me and his dad. So I went right to police and filed again that he was home and we were bringing him in to turn him in but he ran. Gave police his picture whole nine yards. At xmas two days before police called said they needed his dental records because it was going into thirty days that he ran away. I said no problem but my son was back at his dads house and asked them to pick him up. They told me to give them a day or so they would contact me. Ok they called said there was no warrant nothing they could do. Probation said it was automatic to file warrant. So here is my son, disabilities and no one has done nothing he hasn't even been to school. No phone calls from no one. School probation or police. Can I file a lawsuit because they neglected my son? And if they decide to file warrant now can they it is feb 2011 now. My son got lost in system. I know he has all these disabilities, but aren't they wrong for not helping me. Do I have a lawsuit against these people? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
