I know that to optain a K-1 Visa for my fiance in the Philippines we must first have met within the last two years. Unfortunately, I am not permitted to leave the US until Jan. 2003. Is it possible to get her here on a visitor(tourist) visa so we meet the requirements of a K-1 visa or can we just go to INS and change her status when she arrives here showing that we are to married or have already married upon her arrival in the US. Any answers would be helpful.

Thank you
Tim S

The chances of her getting a tourist visa is very silm to nil. The reason being that a single woman from asia is highly unlikely to leave the US once they are here.

K1- or B-1 visa

I own my own business. Can I get her here on a work visa then. Just a thought.

Sorry pal, but no.. unless she has a degree and a number of years experience in a specialized skill that is in short demand in the US.

You *might* be able to get a waiver for the 'having to have met within the last two years' rule depending on your reason for not being able to leave the country.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Just wanted clarification on the matter.
