What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon
A friend has filed Chapter 7, but did not sign a re-assignment on her car with her credit union. She continues to make the car payments, but is concerned that they will re-possess the car anyway. They are accepting the payments, and have not attempted to contact her.
She wants to know if keeping current on the payments will prevent this. Are there laws in this regard or is it solely up to the institution to decide whether or not to take the car away? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I'd not worry. If the CU had wanted a reaffirmation agreement they'd have pressed the issue. With the current economic environment, creditors prefer preforming loans vs another vechicle in the impound lot.
