What is the name of your state? Dallas, TX

The friend of mine - she works in escort service. She expects to receive passport with certain Russian visa from the Embassy - she wants to go there for a vacation.

But somehow her boss doesn't want to let her go. He wants her either to work, or to pay him for her own leave.

His mistake is that he has put his intention into the e-mail letter to her:

""...I have made the suggestion that when your documents arrive, you are to be given
photocopies of them, NOT the originals.
Once I have been repaid and satisfied, the originals will be given to you...""

What to do?

thank you all.

What to do about what?
Doesn't the keeping of other people's document without those people's consent constitute a certain violation?

Moreover, to receive somebody's document means you intercept mail to that person - which should be a federal crime. Isn't it?

Thank you for further advice.

Listen, you either come back here with the WHOLE story or tell your friend to hire her own attorney.

Dear Belize Breeze. Don't get mad. I am also from Belize (at least I was born at Belmopan).

If you want the WHOLE story - not a problem. I lay it out for you to play it out.

The Girl (Let's name her A) has been working in the Escort Services company owned by B.
2 monthes ago she rented a room in the hous of her owner. So the mail address changed too.

Well she is working legally as well as company is legit.

She didn't have a vacation for about 1.5 years. Now she bought a tour to Moscow, and she applied for visa. Passport with visa are to come tomorrow. But the girl is in NY right now, so her boss would sure keep the package with her passport and visa.

As I understand since that company is small business venture, her vacation would mean certain financial losses to her boss. Well who likes the business to go down.

I just wanted to know does the intention of that man or his further action would constitute certain violation. If yes, what is applicable in this case.

Thank you all and thanks BelizeBreeze.

Nobody has a legal right to withold another's government-issued documents or property absent a court order or some form of conservatorship. Her recourse would be to go to the police ... but, if he denies having the documents, there may not be much she can do about it. And the fact that she's a call girl ... er, an "escort" ... will make this even more difficult as neither her nor her boss may want too much police scrutiny.

Are these the same people involved with your cell phone story?
No. Cell phone case is my life but the girl's documents keeping is the story of my friend.

Thank you
