What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Michigan
My daughter is a member of her schools FIRST Robotics team and she was recently kicked off of the team for "bullying". Any one that knows her knows this is not possible. She recieved awards for peer mediation and "random acts of kindness" at school.
She is a head strong kid and usually puts others before her own needs and as a parent I look upto her for that. Her team mates go to her and complain about how the main teacher bullies the kids, so she stands up to the teacher for the sake of the team.
The teacher has had enough of her standing up to him and has accused her of being a bully and first suspended her from the team and now has removed her completely after she has asked for proof of her crime. He has yet to give her proof or an example of her crime.
As a parent what can I do?

What did the school administrator say when you expressed your views to them?

There may not be much you can do. Did you talk to the teacher, the principal or someone even higher up about this?

If this teacher is truly a problem, there are appropriate ways by which that can be addressed. It is certainly not your daughter's place to "stand up" to a teacher. Whether or not your daughter is a bully may end up being beside the point. If that charge is found to be insufficient cause for removing her from the team, the proven (by your own admission) charge of insubordination may be more than sufficient.

If she wants back on the team, she'd be well advised to show a certain amount of contrition on Monday.

Contrition...

Yes for sure and GOOD WORD.

Also you do not know what your kids do/behave/say out of your sight. I learned that the hard way.

I had a portable camara put under my kid's skin to record all her actions... it caused a rash but I knew where my Milano cookies were going.

Also, be very aware that the new bullying laws cover far more than what you may think. Bullying no longer means overt acts such as stuffing students into lockers anymore. Now a student who chooses to express their displeasure at something by saying "that's gay" or "that's retarded" runs afoul of the law and will be punished. It can even be triggered by PDA at school. So with the new more subtle definitions of "bully", OP's daughter may truly deserve the dismissal from the team.
