What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington

I was recently laid off (just before being permitted to take my contract-stipulated 12-weeks of paid vacation). I have an employment agreement/contact that states an employment period, vacation period, and annual salary. However, the contact also states that the employment relationship is "at will." My vacation is earned throughout the year (by working 60 – 124 hours/week for 5 months straight and 40 hours/week for the remaining 4 “working months”) and I had completed almost all of that work (I worked 7.5 months of the 9 "working months” before being laid off). I'm wondering if I have a case worth pursuing for the wages I would have received during the paid vacation period (approx. $13,000).

I should also mention that the employer cancelled my health insurance in August, which was a benefit included in the contract. All of these modifications to the contract were communicated by the Program Director via email, not “in writing and signed by both the employer and employee,” as the contract states, nor was the notice delivered “in writing and mailed return receipt requested, postage paid, or delivered by overnight delivery service.” Because I lost my income, I do not have much money to hire an attorney, but if this is worth pursuing, I will find a way to borrow the money I would require to seek legal representation. What should I do?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Only way to find out is by taking your contract to a local attorney for review. Without reading the contract in full, no one can tell you if it is worth pursuing.
