We live in a cove on a lake in Michigan. Because over the last 50 years property owners have filled in about 30 feet of beach at the water's edge, the surveyors stakes are now 30 feet from the edge of the lake. Now everyone has less footage than originally staked out years ago. The lots are angled and those with a pie shaped lot now have increasingly fewer feet of lakefront. Do we follow the angle of the lot lines all the way to the edge of the water or do we run the lines to share the loss evenly?

You should talk with a local surveyor.
