i live in new orleans, la and the home i am renting is owned by an elderly lady. upon my moving there i signed a lease on a latter & blum residential lease. in investaged and found out that the owner nor the person she asked to collect the rent was not an agent of this company. is this lease valid? the lease was for one year. a year after the lease expired the person who was collecting sent me a letter letting me know that another person who is also the acting manager of the home owners association where i liven would be collecting the rent. i was told to put my money ordersn of payment in his name. is this legal? also this man has approached me a number of times saying that i am breaking rules. #1 my husband rented a van for work, we were told it was a commercial vehicle and could not be parked nin the parking lot. ( there are several other vehicles on the lot from companies like the sewage & water board etc.) #2 he constantly claims that we are running a business out of our home because we have some of my husbands employees to come over to eat from time to time when they get off of long jobs. most of the people my husband hired are homeless, reformed drug adictsn and men who are down on their luck to give them a chance at a positive life. also, my husband and all of his crew was out of town on a job so he had the uniform company to deliver the uniforms to the house. i was told i could not have deliveries at my house. i was also told that i had x number of deliveries from ups and that was not exceptable. #3 mardi gras we had our motor home parked in the lot from 11:00 p.m. and planned to drive back out of town the next evening. we were told that we could not have it parked because we were braking the rules. i asked for a list of the rules so that we would know in advance and avoid braking the rules. i was told the book was for homeowners. my reply was how was a renter supposed to know the rules. i pay 600.00 a month and don't bother anyone. this man has also stopped my guest to ask why he comes to my house so much. (my nephew and my brother-in-law visit almost daily to sit and drink coffee, watch sports, or what ever, but how dare he question my guest. is this legal? #4 he wrote a letter saying that he told me the rent was going up. i remember asking him to put it in writting to me. when i was om my way to workn on morning he stopped me and asked where was the other 100 dollars we owed him for the rent increase. i again asked him to put this in writting. he responded "if that's how you want to be then you better put in writting when you need something fixed, and your son better not bounce a basketball in the lot again because he is a distructive child and if this continues i will put you out. he became ragged because i aked him why he is approching my guest to question why they come to my house and that i will get my lawyer to let him know that i am not running a business from my house. he got angry when i said i did not have time to talk because i had to get to work and he was delaying me. i politely asked him to speak to my husband because i didn't want to discuss this any futher and i pulled off. he latter called my husband and gave him a letter saying we had to move by may 15th. he claimes the homeowner association board member were complaining about me. i asked a few members and i know he is lying. was i right to ask him to put the increase in writting? does he have the right to raise the rent or should the homeowner send me this notice being that her name is on the lease that i signed?
