I informed my landlord that I would be moving out at the end of the month. He and another tenant went into my apartment before I was moved out and my rent was paid up. He said that he went in because they thought I had already moved out but he knew that I had told him I wouldn't be out until the end of the month. I still had my belongings in there. He wants me to pay him a certain amount of money for not staying through my lease but I feel that we are even considering he entered my apartment without my permission and he did not fix anything that he had agreed to fix. I tried contacting him on several occassion to have him fix these things and he never did. He is now saying that he is going to take to court if I do not pay him the amount he has asked for. This amount is supposedly to cover having the apartment painted and the carpet cleaned. The tenant that entered my apartment with my landlord moved into my apartment within days after I had left. What should I do? My lease was for 1 year and I stayed there for 5 months. This is in Shelby, North Carolina. HELP!!!
