New Jersey law, I rent a home, the landlord has repeatedly entered the house with out notice, for no reason other than she wants to see how clean it is,, it is clean. Can she do this, is she not suppose to give at least 24 hours notice to this. One time my ten year old son was home from school alone and she just walked in, did not even knock. Are there laws as to changing the locks while we live here. What can I do to stop this I have asked her not to but she say's it is her house and she will continue to do this whenever she feels like it.

The FIRST question to ask is:

Do you have a lease?

The second question is

Do you want to live there?

If the answer is to the first question is NO, then you have no rights other then a 30 day notice to vacate.

If the answer to the second question is yes, then shut up or you wont get a renewal lease.

sometimes the law wont help you, to get what you want, which is... to live there a long time AND not have her barge in like that.
