Our landlord in Illinois just filed for bankruptcy. Does this mean we will have to move? Or lease is not up till September. If we decide to move before that are we responsible for the rent till then? Need help fast.

NO... your lease is your lease, you have a legal right to stay untill it ends.

You will NOT get a renewal, although they may let you stay there on a month to month basis, but then all you will get is 30 days to move and if you are NOT out then you will be liable for all damages......

Also you will be sued by the landlords attorney if you leave early...he needs your rent money to pay his creditors...

So the best advice: be out by Sept30th.....
