I live in south Florida in a duplex for over 4 years. Just recently the Owner was not fixing things anymore, plus letting the outside property go unmaintained. Do to that reason I was looking for a new place to live, but thought that as long as I paid my rent at the duplex that I was not in any rush. The Landlord called me yesterday to tell me the company that he has the loan with took the duplex back from him, and that it was going to be auctioned of today (3/19/01). My question is "Can the company or the new Owners kick me out on the spot or do I have some time, and if so how long."
My lease is not up with the old Owners and I have the right to bring the lease and leave because in the lease the old owner did maintain the property as agreed.

I would tomorrow NOT got to work....take a sick day..

And start calling you local bar association, and see if you can get a consultation with a landlord tenant lawyer, they are pretty cheap for the first half hour, and the lawyer should explain everything.....

Of course YOU DO live in America, so no one can force you out of your home without a court order, and you have a right to defend yourself in a court of law, so untill you are served with eviction papers....seeing a lawyer tomorrow is the best bet.
