I live in Mo., Landlord changed my locks on my apt., thinking I had abandoned my apt, although was paid up on rent. I had 3 months left in my contract, but moved in with my girlfriend. He sued me for $2600, took my TV, stereo, cuck-coo clock, VCR, and $50 in change out of my apt, and held my mail. We settled for $1500, which I paid him in cash, however, 3 months later he garnished 4 paychecks for $320 each. I saw the papers, he is going for the $2600.00. My monthly rent was $450. I lost my security deposit, and most of my valuables, but have no way to prove it was him. His Son let me remove my belongings for about 3 hours, then locked the door. He sells Real Estate, so has the attorneys behind him. I reported the theft to the police, but did not file a complaint until the rest of my things were removed. I want to take him to Small Claims Court, but what damages can I seek for the embarrassment at my work, plus the garnished wages of $1280.00. I noticed he evicted other tennents, but didn't pay attention to why? This man is a scum-bag. He told me he would reimburse me the $320, however no money has been returned to me yet, and the garnishment continues. Please help me. Thank you. [email protected]

Well do you have a reciept for the cash you gave him?

And it was ILLEGAL for him to change the locks...next time call the Police and have the landlord arrested!

IF you dont have a reciept for the CASH.......then this is going to be a VERY VERY expensive lesson in LIFE SKILLS.
