What is the name of your state? California
My car has been towed by my land lord(kinda)!!! They put a tow notice on my 1994 Honda Civic because it had 1 FLAT TIRE and had been sitting in the same spot for about 3 weeks. It said To "Fix the tire and move the car to the other parking area within 96 hours, by july 18th, or it would be towed". Well, I FIXED MY TIRE!!!! AND MOVED MY CAR TO THE SPECIFIED PARKING AREA WITHIN 24 HOURS,July 16th!!!!! I also washed my car and removed the sticker since it no longer applied to my vehicle or situation, so now it was fixed, moved, shiny, and pretty. I must also state that there were 5 other cars tagged for removal by the 18th , they were even tagged prior to mine!
The 18th came and went, my car was undisturbed, most of the other cars complied with their tow notices so they were also undisturbed. On the afternoon of the 19th of July I went outside and realized that my car had been towed sometime between 3:30 AM and 4:00 PM of that day!!!!!! Here's my favorite part, to this day, July 21st, NONE OF THE OTHER CARS HAS BEEN TOWED, REMOVED, OR EVEN BOOED FOR BEING OLD RUSTY JUNKERS WITH AN OBVIOUS LACK OF RETAIL VALUE!!!!!!! I'm not just being catty, the most valuable of the other 5 cars was a 1987 Chevy Corsica with body damage, no registration, windows that wouldn't roll up ever AND DIDN"T RUN!! I know this because it's my brother in laws car!
My questions are; Is this legal and if so HOW!!!? Now that it has already been towed, what are my options? I cannot afford to get it out right now, am I to be Liable for towing and storage fees? If not, how can I compell the land lord and or towing company to give me my FREEKIN car back? And no matter what your answers to my preceding questions are Here's a BIGGIE! Are any of these events/actions grounds for a justifiable homicide? This answer could negate the need to answer any of my other questions!!! Just kidding, KINDA!!!
Seriously though, your assistance is deperately needed and greatly appreciated.
Thank You Very Much
