Landlord remodeling without permits

We have been renting for about 9 months. We just recently had an inspector here because the landlord was finishing his remodel of the duplex we live in. Come to find out he had no permits to move the duplex to this piece of land and also did not have permits to remodel or even have occupancy permits. Do i have a case here?

will you get to live there rent free? no.
will you get to cancel your lease? possibly.
