We got a 6 month lease then have been going month to month. We have lived here since Dec. 1999. When rent was due at the beginning of this month I was interviewing for a job out of state. I was waiting to pay rent or give 30 day notice depending on if I got the job or not. Now being the 11th, they want me there my the end of the month. My landlord says I can't give notice now, that I have to pay this months rent plus late fees, then give 30 days notice. When we rented we paid first, last and deposit...I know I can kiss my deposit good bye whether it is clean or not, but can't I break any agreement because of moving out of state for a job??? I can't afford to pay 800 this month and move and lose the 775 they already have. Any suggestions...please answer ASAP

That is correct you paid last months rent which is to be applied for march's rent , and you will lose your security,

That way the landlord LOSES NO MONEY on you, since he will have to re rent the place, and probaly lose aprils rent since how many people rent in the middle of the month?

BUT YOU ARE DEALING WITH A REDNECK..... who has spent all the money and will sue you and get a judgment and have it put on your credit report....he's scum you know...

How to protect yourself.....send a letter certified mail return reciept, saying the above, last months will be used for March's rent, and you will expect to do a move out report before you move and take lots of pictures of the apartment, with the landlord in a few just incase he sues you... and you have to come back and defend yourself.

Get it signed by both of you so you have a reciept, to show a judge...he will sue you he is a redneck low life...

I mean NOBODY would act that way, the landlord should have wished you well, and have asked you if he can place an ad in the paper so he can rerent it by April 1st, so you can get your deposit back...

That is what a decent caring landlord would do...but you have a low life landlord.
