What is the name of your state? Oklahoma

Can a leasing agency make you pay rent and utilities until they re-rent the house. 30 days notice was given in writing that the we could no long afford the rent and had to find something cheaper.

Yes there is a lease and it ran for 1 year and no the lease was not broken
early. The leasing agency was given 30 days written notice before the end of the lease. They are say that we will have to pay rent and utilities until they rent the house. They say it is a state law but I can not find anything about this being a law.

What were the exact dates for the lease? Is there an auto-renew clause in the lease?

Once the terms of the lease have been ful-filled, you are under NO obligation to continue to pay rent or utilities on a rental unit. That is provided you followed the proper procedures on notifying the LL of your intent to vacate...

Tell the LL to pound sand, as there is NO state law that requires a tenant to continue paying rent or utilities once notification has been givenm, and you no longer reside in the rental unit...
