If you've been given the 5 day notice from the Landlord, and in the notice he/she keeps refering to the Lease, which when originally signed was a 6 month agreement (a year and 4 months ago)and you have not signed anything since, can/should the notice still refer to it?
Besides the fact that you are moving before the 5 days anyway.

think about what you are saying first....

a 5 day notice for what? have you paid the rent? when are you moving? did anyone give you a 30 day notice to move, did you give the landlord any notice...

are they asking for money? do you owe it?

djdj,
We owe for this month, Feb. He just stopped by tonight and handed the paper to us.
Does'nt it have to be noterized or delivered by an officer of the court?

You didn't feel like sharing with us what state you live in, but generally a notice can be served by anyone of suitable age and discretion.

LL,
I'm sorry. It's Illinois.
I know the landlord technically is a business man. And he will get his money, even if we have to make payments on it. I guess we're just frustrated because when we 1st got here, all was fine. Then in Sept after we offer to do a land contract option he tells us the house is in bankruptcy. Thats the 1st we heard of that. Then he told us at the end of Dec., that he is putting the house up forsale in March.
So that's when we told him we were looking for another place.

OK do you understand what RENT IS?

It is due IN FULL on the 1st, NO EXCUSES

So how did you get such a stupid nutty idea in your head that you can pay the rent in payments?

djdj,

Tell me does the "dj" stand for Dumb Jerk?
Obviously you have not read the caption before replying to a message.
Or perhaps you are the only perfect person on this planet.
Or maybe your just inconsiderate to anyone's feelings but your own.
I'm sure you could find a Counseling Chat Room that would help you with that problem.

She must have had parents that were bums too,

I guess thats where you learn these things from?

You pay the landlord the rent in FULL

How hard is that to remember?

Maybe you overlooked this reminder when you respond to people's questions.

"When Replying to a message, please be considerate, respectful and polite.
Remember, there is a human being on the other side of that computer screen."

I've read several of your responses to people, and looks like the only thing you can do is insult them. You seem to have a "smart A--" remark for everyone. Did you learn that from your parents? They must have been Jerks too.

These people come on here to ask for advice. Not to be belittled by some egotistical moron, that likes to "hear" himself talk. (behind a monitor no less)

I know what mistakes I've made. And I also know I can correct them. I doubt you can make the same observation when you look in the mirror.

Have a nice day!

Thank you for admitting you made a mistake in NOT paying the landlord the FULL rent when its due.

That was something my parents instilled in me....you sacrifice, you eat peanut butter sandwiches, you take your lunch to work, you tighen your finances, you DONT eat out at all.....you learn how to cook.....and NEVER PISSSS OFF THE LANDLORD!

djdj-

I NEVER said it was not our mistake! I came on here to just see what rights tenants have. Instead I get verbal abuse from someone who has no real clue what is happening in my life.
See, that's what I learned from my parents. Never prejudge anyone. Never treat anyone as if they were scum. Never belittle anyone to their face or behind their back. Never assume you know everything.

In other words: Until you know the whole story, keep your opinions to yourself.
