how do i respond to a default judgement where parties entered into a new contract prior to the entry of the default judgement and former unlawful detainer that was resolved earlier.

If the unlawful detainer was resolved earlier, then there should not be any judgement.

The default judgement is because you never answered the UD suit and never appeared in court.
