I have moved out of my apartment and realize I have an obligation to my lease. The apartment manager has since moved a trailor and weed trimmer into my garage for storage, is this by any chance an reason to break my lease and stop paying rent? I moved out mid May and have paid Junes rent and I am seriously trying to rent or sublet this place. A friend wanted the apartment but was turned down for bad credit, the lease does say anyone there must pass a credit credit check. Thank You for any helpWhat is the name of your state?

A: No.

It may not be a reason to break the lease but if the garage is part of the rental unit for your exclusive use, tell him to get the stuff out of your garage as long as you are paying rent.

You can control your property and for all practical purposes, if it is incuded for your exclusive use, it is your property.

While you may be upset that a refrence/credit check is required but not listed as required, it is a standard, and acceptable practice to do so. It is also very stupid not to do it.
