What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania
I'm looking over a lease for a possible apt, and the following clause is stated in the lease:
INSURANCE: Landlord agrees to carry fire and liability insurance on building. Tenant's personal property is not insured under the Landlord's policy.
1) Tenant will carry his/her own fir and liability insurance to protect tenant, tenant's personal property, and his/her guests
2) Tenant agrees to list landlord as additional insured on any policy tenant purchases
3) Tenant will provide proof by documentation of listing of landlord as additional insured
I called my insurance, and they wouldn't allow this. They told me it was a major mistake to do this. What are the ramifications of doing this and why would the landlord require this?
Thanks for any advice
