landlord's property in foreclosure

What are our legal rights when the property we're renting is going into foreclosure? The owner is not making the house payments; do we still have to pay rent when we will need our rent money to secure us another place to live. We doubt if they will be able to refund our security deposit. We live in the state of California.

Technically, you're supposed to continue paying rent; but, many people in your position do not.

You are putting yourself in a precarious position because you will be subject to an unlawful detainer action not only by the owner but also by the mortgage lender, the lender's attorney, the foreclosure Trustee and his/her attorney.

After foreclosure, existing tenants are usually evicted anyway.
