I live in Fla, and my landlord is stonewalling us on getting our central a/c unit fixed. He and his wife said they didn't have the $$$ to fix it, although they admitted it is their responsibility. After going around for a while, they agreed to let some friends of ours that own a heating&air business come in and look at it, but then behind our backs told the heat&air people not to come. When I questioned the wife about it, she said she was sending her husband over the same day to "clean" the unit which she said would fix the problem. He never came. How long do I have to wait for her husband to come over? Also, my three year old is sick with pneumonia and the heat is really getting to him. I am without transportation during the day so I can't go out; plus, if I was able to go out and the landlord does come over he will be mad that I left and won't do the work.

DO you have a lease?

If so then you can pay the repairman and deduct it from next months rent...

Send a letter to the landlord stating the air condition must be fixed within 3 days or you will call the repairman yourself and deduct it from next months rent, the landlord is violating the lease.

If you have No lease, then give your notice to move....... you CAN"T force a slumlord to fix his property with NO LEASE!

If you have written a letter to landlord keeping copy for you and repair not ,made with in reasonable time you do have a city housing inspection department call them .
