I've lived in my attic apartment since August15,1999. I've never had a problem here even got along with the landlord when I first moved in. Just yesterday my door bell kept ringing till I answered it, it was my landlord. They stated to me that the tentant below me is complaining about my cat and that it smells in the hallway and it is going into her apartment. I've cleaned up any smell that would attrack in the hallway. I have had friends over and have asked if they smell anything most have said no but a few have said that when they came in the fist door to the building that it smelt like dog, my landlord has two fairly large dogs. I have even smelt them before and when I said someting to them about the smell, smelling like the dogs they got very defencive saying their dogs do not smell and the odor is cat. He also informed me that the girl downstairs has roaches in her apartment. I had seen some around June 1st and I bought traps for them, it took care of them. He is now blaming me for the roaches saying that there was never any bugs till I moved in, the funny thing is he does not have them we do not have them but, she does. I offered for him to come up to the apartment and look but he refused. He said that he is tired of the girl downstairs complaining to his wife and that it would be best for me to leave. He or his wife have never come up to the apartment to follow up on any so called complaints. My Landlord in october of last year gave me the permission to have the cat in my apartment. Yesterday I was told to get rid of my cat or I had to move. I took my cat to north shore animal shelter and gave him up for adoption paying them $55.00 to do so. Now today after getting rid of my cat I am told that I have to leave anyway, I even tried to show my landlord the paper showing that the cat was gone but he would not look at it, saying that was not his problem. Do you know what that did to me having to give him up then finding out we have to go anyway, he was like part of my family and he did not understand why we were leaving him there. I'm being evicted for the roaches in the other tentants apartment and also for a cat I don't even own any more what can I do.
