Wilmington, DE - My laptop bag (containing my laptop, 10 hardcopy client files with their name, DOB, address, phone number, and medication list, mobile scanner) was stolen from my car which was parked at my house. My computer contained about 60 clients files (name, DOB, SSN, address, phone number, income, medication list, health history). The information on my laptop requires a password to access. I have a few questions.
1. Should I file a claim with homeowners, auto, or business insurance to recover the loss of the laptop and mobile scanner (value approx. $1500)?
2. What am I required to do about the 10 clients whose information have been compromised?
3. What am I required to do about the 60 clients whose information may have been compromised?
4. What else do I need to do about this issue? I filed a police report.
Thanks in advance for your help. If this is an issue for another board, please let me know which one?
