Hello,
We had a fire with a lot of smoke damage to our clothing as well as other contents in our home.
The Cleaning/restoration company that came into clean after the fire. They mentioned that some people will do their own laundry and have the insurance company apply that to your deductible. Since we didn't have any extra money on hand, I decided to do smoke damaged laundry myself, which was a lot. I kept track and wrote down each load I did.
Does anyone know how the insurance company calculates the reimbursement for each load of laundry?
Does anyone know the going rate they allow for each load? Do they give you an allowance for using your own electric, water & gas? Do they give allowance for your time? I guess normally, the restoration company would send it somewhere to have the laundry done, so I guess I'm wondering what they normally get paid when doing smoke damage laundry for a client.
If unable to help me, is there a place I can look on the internet for the going rate, etc.?

Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it.What is the name of your state?

I apologize for the bold look in my question. I had clicked on Arial Black font and didn't realize it would appear bold. I have vision problems. Again, I apologize. ClassieM

Insurance companies don't apply anything towards your deductible. Someone was crazy, when they told you that. They usually add the cost of dry cleaning or laundering your clothes into the total, so that they don't have to give you money for buying NEW clothes. It varies. Ask your adjuster.
