What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

Hello all I need a bit of advice for my son who is 18 just had a baby with a girl who is 17. they have been dating for over 2 years and only until now was there a need for concern. The father has not taken a paternity test yet nor is his name on the birth certificate\, however a letter in the mail came asking for detailed information on my son. He is now worried he will be charged as a sex offender his entire life even though both parents consent to them having the baby. Any info would be appreciated as soon as possible.
Thanks!

Parents cannot consent to illegal sexual activity.

If the age of consent in WI is 18, then it's possible that your son can be charged with a crime.

If he is charged, he will of course need to speak with an attorney immediately.

BTW, I don't think it's likely that he'll be charged with anything, although the possibility is still there. However, if he is, Wisconsin allows an exception for teen offenders who engaged in consensual sex with regard to sexual offender registration.

she did apply for assistance through wic, what does that mean exactly?
it means...dad will be court ordered to pay child support or the STATE for any assistance mom had received. such as medical care for the baby, food stamps...cash asssitance...the state wants their money back.
