What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

Ok. My question is what is the statue of limitations on suing a lawyer in Indiana for malpractice? The other lawyers I've talked to have said we have a case for malpracticve, but I need to know the length of time you have to file a malpractice suit.

. . . and that is the case in Indiana, although there are a few exceptions to this. If you do not discover it was malpractice until later, the statute of limitations can be extended, and you can also file for an extension if time is running out (although this does not have to be granted).

THanks for the info. The case involves Child Support and to quote our new lawyer "I'm surprised you haven't filed malpractice against him [the old lawyer]" The biggest problem with our situation is that the current judge is a distant relative and friend of the old lawyer's father.

But thank you so much for the information.

We just discovered this problem/horrible, shoddy legal work that makes me want to scream recently. Let's just say that the only way that sorry excuse of a troglodite could have made our problem worse was if he had managed to get my father arrested for being a dead beat dad. It's just a very convaluted case that spands more that 15 years and has more paperwork than any other case I've seen (I used to work as a legal secretary).

How would we file for extension of time?

im surprised the lawyers that you talked to that said you had a case were unable to tell you the sol.
The new lawyer explained it to a group who were in near shock from the explaination of how bad our previous represetnation was.
