Layed off despite my medical situation

Accident - Bankruptcy - Criminal Law / DUI - Business - Consumer - Employment - Family - Immigration - Real Estate - Tax - Traffic - Wills   Please click a topic or scroll down for more.

What was your purpose in doing that?

Did you specifically ask for an accommodation under the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Have you filed for unemployment compensation since the "lay off."
My medical condition is covered under ADA. The company indicated that due to tariffs sales are low, so they are taking action to stabilize.

Apparently mlopez60120 and patriotbluewave are the same person posting under different usernames. Here is a link to patriotbluewave’s thread:

A lot of people are being laid off or fired from their jobs right now, through no fault of their own. The economy is suffering from federal downsizing, and Trump’s erratic tariffs which have led to supply chain issues and higher costs to companies and consumers, and from immigration policies that have adversely affected farmers and growers and service industries. Many businesses are cutting their costs by cutting their workforce.

The bottom line, OP by whatever name, is that unless you have evidence that would stand up in a court of law that you would not have been laid off if not for your medical condition, you've got nothing. If they are laying off people for business reasons, that's legal.

OP allegedly works 60 hrs/wk in one post and 45-50 hrs/wk in another post. Two jobs? Goldbrickers are exposed to layoffs and being fired in any economy. Businesses cut costs by cutting their workforce in any economy to keep shareholders happy. Those legal citizens who are laid off or fired can always get a job with farmers, growers and/or service industries.

I think it’s more likely only one job with different estimates given on the number of hours worked per week. There is also a difference in when the threads were first created which could account for the difference in estimated hours worked.

As to fired or laid off workers filling the spots vacated by migrants, most “legal” workers would be unwilling to work for the same low wages employers paid the migrant workers or work under the same extreme conditions or work without benefits.
