What is the name of your state? VA after being employed nearly 10 years yesterday I was laid off and asked to sign a 4 page agreement to collect severance, I feel they are afraid of legal action , most of the 4 pages revlove around releaseing them from any claims. I am 45 and recently have had to take some unapproved time off , unapproved meaning less than two weeks writen notice, there are many employes that abuse this much more than I have that are still there. I have never been spoke to or writen up for unaproved leave. in my 10 years with the company 9 years have been OK less than 3 unexcused per year, but this year with a separiton and custody issues and my father having a stroke I was told I have 11 and this is reason they gave for me being laid off. Last year I recived a memo stating that I had to many hours of PDL (leave) and would lose it unless I took it at the time it was more then 250 hours(as of june 1 06 I had 193 hours) ,In december of 05 I put in for time off and was asked to cancel it , I even have a hand writen note from the plant manager saing I could carry time over, I have worked all overtime asked. and of course have trained the people who are replacing me. Is there any chance of getting any money out them of the or should I take the 2500$ and forget about it.
