i inherited a house that was built in the 1800's from my mother who passed away(in indiana). an individual was buying the house on contract. he was responsible for routine maintenance but performed unscheduled remodeling w/o permission (tore down walls in frontroom to studs). he did not have the money to complete the remodeling project so left the room covered w/ a blanket. his kids now have high lead levels. he now wants to sue, can i be held responsible?
