What is the name of your state? California

I have a relative who called me to co-sign a rental agreement for him. It was a "rush" thing that the apartment owners wanted that day, otherwise, he would lose his down payment. They said they would FAX me paperwork necessary to qualify me as an acceptable co-signer. I filled the paperwork out (the paper they sent me was all blank with high lighted areas for me to complete) and faxed it back. All I filled out was my credit history. I signed the forms. Later the friend called and said he was accepted. I have now found the "friend" to have a serious alcohol problem. He is unable to pay his rent. Now the management said I co-signed for a one year lease. I thought I was signing a credit history for myself to qualify. The paperwork I have does not contain any specific info. Not even that it is a lease. How much. How long. Nothing. They never sent me any of the completed paperwork. I want to know if I am bound to this agreement since they filled in all the particulars on a faxed contract. The paperwork does not even have the friends name on it. The manager stated to me that I signed the paperwork and they added all the details after I signed it. I am 70 years old, noty working, and on a very limited income. I cannot afford to make the monthly payments. Please respond as th whether or not I am bound to this very strange agrement DONROB

**A: take the strange agreement and place it in a ziplock bag and mark it TOXIC MOLD SAMPLE. Take it to an attorney for review. Do not show anyone or talk to anyone about it on your way to the attorney's office.
