Does breaking a lease legally and by the conditions stated in your lease go on your credit?

It can....newer property management programs now affiliate with a credit reporting module that can report tenant payments just as retail merchants can.

No!

It wont affect your credit if you do it legally. That means if it says you have to pay 2 additional months rent and lose your security deposit and you do that, there is nothing to report. You must make all payments that are required of you, and make them on time.

If the apt. complex or LL offers you a way out of your lease, be sure you get it in wrtiting what conditions you have to fulfill and a statement that says you did do these things. Make sure you make any lease break fees on time and in full. If you fail to do so, the LL can sue for a monetary judgement against you. This will go on your credit record and affect your score. Also, many LLs will not rent to someone with a judgment from a prior Ll.
