Legal Quagmire!!! HELP!

I currently reside in Urbana, IL. I live in an apartment complex specifically targeted toward the Univeristy of Illinois population. I am sure some of you are familiar with the type of people with whom I am dealing.

To make a long story short: I signed a lease on March 22, 2000 for the period June 9, 2000 to August 12, 2000. At that point I originally wanted a 14-month lease with a termination date of August 12, 2001. Due to the targeted demographic, the leasing agents informed me that I could only enter into, at most, a 12-month lease. So, we entered into a two-month lease with the understanding that I would be able to renew in August of 2000.

This is my dilemma. I went in to the leasing office in May of 2000 wherein they reprinted page one of the five page lease to reflect a lease of June 9, 2000 to August 12, 2001. However, the rest of the five page lease was never reprinted. The last page, to me the most important page due to the fact that it contains the statement "I acknowledge that I have read all clauses in this lease and agree to abide by the same." is signed originally on March 22, 2000. So I have TWO page ones of a five-page lease.

Now the problem, I am being transferred to Chicago with my company. My company will not help me out because they are saying, according to their legal department, that I technically have no lease, due to the fact that page five was not reprinted and signed on the date of commencement of the lease. Am I liable for the remaining portion of the lease?

HELP!!
