Lease problem!!!! Please help!!!!!

Me and my husband on 1st of October moved into a new apartment here in NY. We found this apartment through craigslist.com, checked it out and liked it. So we decided we would like to live in it, so everything was made through a free of charge broker, who was payed i guess by the landlord. We signed the lease on 23rd of september, we were asked to pay 2 months rent ( 1st month+last month) and one month security deposit, the checks were certified from our bank, and we payed them the same day we signed the lease, BUT we did not get a copy of the LEASE!!!! The broker said that he would send it back to the landlord to sign it and after he'll send us a copy!!! So also a very interesting thing is that they gave us 22 days free of the 1st month, so for the 1st month we would have to pay only 8 left and the second month was already payed as we gave them the payment in the check. A month passed and we did not get the lease, even though we were calling the broker asking for it, the answer was always i'll call them but no results. So at the end of october we got the 1st check to pay in amount of 1 month plus 8 days. We were confused why is that!? So we called the broker and he told us to pay only 8 days because the 22 were free and the November is payed after signing the lease. So we did that just with the check we sent a letter explaining why we're not sending all the payment but at the same time asking why they want us to pay so much and we gave them our phone numbers in case they had any questions. So without no questions they deposited our check. My husband called them asking why we still don't have the lease, the lady started telling us some stupid things, that we are living here since 1st of September and some other stuff and she said she'll make sure we'll get the lease. It has been almost 2 months and just today 21st of november, we got completely other lease which says that we are living here since september 1st and they want us to sign it which is an absurd!!! We signed a lease already before moving in!!!!! What should we do? Please anybody HELP!!!!!!!! Please!!!! we don't really know what to do!!!!

You should have gotten a copy of the lease (and READ IT) on the day you signed it.

Stand your ground, tell them you already sign a lease and you want your copy...if not, change the lease of the things you did not agree to and initial it and make them initial it or tell them to provide you a copy of previous lease that you sign. If they refuse to initial it and provide you a copy, contact that broker and tell him whats going on and put back in his ball court and continue to pay your normal rent as you have been doing..also on check put Nov rent paid in full, - 0- balance, each month...good luck

Thanks, i will show them their mistake and will make a copy of this new lease but wont sign it and send it back to them to correct the mistake and we'll see what will happen, the broker by the way said that he is sick of all the things that are going on and that he doesn't know what else to do, he said he'll contact the person that worked with him about this apartment and he'll tell us what to do next, but i doubt that he'll do anything because he doesn't answer the phone, he doesn't want to talk to us, he is sick of us already because we are bothering him so much!!!!!!!!
