My lease was entered into on 6/1/00 and ends on 5/31/01. I am relocating for business purposes and provided a 30-day written notice on 1/13/01 and will vacate the apartment on 2/15/01. Originally, I was told that I could buy out my lease for 2X my rent. Now they are saying I am responsible for the rent until 5/31/01. Is it legal for them to collect two rents on the same property b/c I know they will rent the apartment as soon as I move out (waiting list). Let me know what my rights are, thanks!
